Family Constellations and Constellation therapy is comprised of several therapeutic techniques, the latter using an individual meditative process when working through challenges with clients; exploring the subconscious domain with the power of visualisation for change, both therapeutic and optimisation. These techniques are therapeutically deep, with clear pathways to transformational benefits and, combined with the family Systemic & Family Constellations, have become a very powerful process for healing emotional wounds and thus unblocking goal achievement in all areas of a client’s life.
Individual constellation requires imagination because there are no other participants to play the roles of various family members as in traditional Family Constellation scenarios. The therapist may invite you to envision a situation into which you mentally invite a person or a thing (animate or inanimate) to represent a situation, feeling or person. The role of the client is that of case-holder or seeker, who expresses from the outset the issue/person they wish to explore. The coach’s role is that of facilitator who uses powerful open questions to unravel the root cause of the issue expressed.
The key process is allowing systemic work to happen within the client’s consciousness; thus consultations can take place remotely.
Constellation therapy offers a different approach that can help when it seems like nothing else will.
Constellation is a type of therapy based on the idea that problems sift down through generations to cause stress in the here and now. When we examine our feelings and perceptions in our consciousness, we can break out of familial patterns that cause suffering. Working through our family constellation helps us to find the cause of our problems and resolve them.
This may sound surprising, but our families cause us certain levels of stress. We are all products of our family, current generations and their ancestors, who have influenced us. We are deeply rooted with them and, therefore, influenced by their behaviour and beliefs. Trauma and secrets within a family, or close associations even if not expressed, can have a profound psychological effect on everyone, like ripples on a pond.
Family Constellation therapies may not be for everyone, but those that have experienced this therapy reported a positive impact in their lives within a very short time.
Within the family, we all have loyalties. Sometimes, according to family constellation theory, we have loyalties towards family members who died generations ago or family members we have never met. These hidden loyalties can lead us to follow patterns, develop habits and make unhealthy choices we cannot understand, based on the information we have. Family constellation therapy can help us understand how these loyalties are driving us, so that we can make different decisions.
